USE OF FUNDS 2023
We respect the right of our donors to know how their money is being spent to further the Mebriata Children’s Foundation mission. Below we highlight our most recent use of funds. Your donations helps us to accelerate our mission to to help Tigrayan children who are unable to sustain their lives due to loss of a parent or due to war.
School Meal Programs
Objective: To reduce the high dropout rate and improve learning conditions by providing daily breakfast to students.
Impact: Benefited 60 students, enabling them to focus on their studies with improved nutrition
Summary:
In the face of disrupted education due to ongoing conflict, the Mebriata Children's Foundation recognized the urgent need to support the nutritional well-being of Tigray's children to encourage their return to school. Our School Meal Program was initiated in the summer of 2023, targeting students who were reluctant to attend school on an empty stomach. By providing daily breakfast for 60 students, we not only alleviated hunger but also enhanced their ability to concentrate and learn. This initiative represents our commitment to not just education but to ensuring the holistic well-being of the children we serve.
Sustain Lives of Orphaned Children
Objective: To provide a year's essentials (food, clothing, shelter, education) for 25 orphans under the care of responsible adults.
Impact: Ensured the well-being of these children, with plans to expand support further.
Summary:
Our second initiative focused on providing comprehensive support to 25 orphans, covering all their essential needs for an entire year, including food, clothing, shelter, and education. Each child is placed under the guardianship of a responsible adult, guaranteeing that the funds are used appropriately. Our aim is to offer continuous care for these children and, with sufficient backing, extend our help to more children facing severe hardships.
School Supplies Donation
Objective: To replenish educational materials lost during the war, including computers and printing equipment.
Impact: Contributed vital technology to Megabit 30 secondary school in Wukro, Tigray, supporting the education of numerous children.
Summary:
The war in Tigray led to widespread looting and the destruction of vital infrastructure and factories, severely impacting education. Many children lost the opportunity to attend school for three years due to these conditions. In response, the Mebriata Foundation donated essential equipment— including a computer, printer, scanner, and copier—to Megabit 30 secondary school in Wukro, Tigray, aiming to restore and support the educational opportunities for these children.
Djibouti Refugee Camp Support
Objective: To provide essential supplies to children and mothers in the Djibouti Refugee Camp.
Impact: Distributed food, diapers, and sanitation supplies, offering critical support to those in need.
Summary:
The harsh realities of life in refugee camps present enormous challenges, particularly for children and mothers. Recognizing the urgent need for basic necessities, Mebriata has extended its support to those residing in the Djibouti Refugee Camp. By providing food, diapers, and sanitation supplies, we aimed to alleviate some of the hardships faced by these vulnerable groups. This project reflects our foundation's broader commitment to offering a lifeline to those displaced by conflict, ensuring they receive the compassion and support needed to sustain them through challenging times.
2023 Summary
In 2023, thanks to your unwavering support, the Mebriata Children's Foundation significantly advanced its mission in Tigray, bringing essential relief and hope to children affected by conflict.
